Isco ready to sign new deal with Real Madrid

Isco

Madrid, August 9: Real Madrid midfielder Isco has suggested that he hopes to sign a new contract with the club soon following his man-of-the-match show in their UEFA Super Cup final against Manchester United.

The 25-year-old scored a fine solo goal after Casemiro had put Madrid ahead in the first half, with Romelu Lukaku's strike insufficient to keep the European champions from asserting a 2-1 win in Skopje on Tuesday (August 8).

The Spanish midfielder has only one year left on his deal at the Santiago Bernabeu and questions were muttering about his future with no new contract offer from Los Blancos.

However, adding a lot of smile in his supporters' heart, the midfielder now has declared that an arrangement of a new contract with Madrid is very close and he has no plan of leaving the club soon. "We're very close and it will be done soon," he said of the contract talks, as quoted by Mundo Deportivo.

The midfielder also suggested that although United were a strong opponent, they fully deserved to win their third Super Cup.

"The game overall was good, we were superior. We suffered a bit at the end against a powerful team," he said.

"They have great players and they started very well. They're a powerful side with big aspirations. But in general, we played a very complete game and we're deserving winners. We think of the present and the future. We don't usually fail on the big occasion. It's also because of the dressing room: getting along is much easier. We're building a winning group and we're showing that."

Signing Isco with a long term contract turned into a need for the club as ever since the midfielder earned a spot in the starting XI ahead of Gareth Bale, his displays were absolutely marvellous and he never made anyone feel the Welshman's absence.

The club and the player have reportedly agreed to a verbal agreement during their Pre-season tour and now they simply need him to sign the paper to make it official, something that might befall one week from now.
