FC Goa were handed a big jolt early in the ISL 2023-24 season as their star midfielder Victor Rodriguez is out for the rest of the season due to an injury on his right leg. The 34-year-old Spaniard suffered the injury during FC Goa's 4-1 win over Mohun Bagan in Kolkata last week.
The injury saw him carried off the field before halftime while Victor Rodriguez also scored a goal in the game while FC Goa remained top of the table under their new manager Manolo Marquez. FC Goa will be in the hunt for a midfielder during the upcoming transfer window.

After the incident, Victor Rodriguez underwent a thorough set of scans, and the preliminary results show that he will need to take a break from competitive play in order to fully heal. He will thus, regrettably, be out for the duration of the 2023-24 campaign due to this ailment.
FC Goa said in a statement: "FC Goa regret to inform that Víctor Rodriguez sustained an injury to his right leg during the recent ISL match against Mohun Bagan Super Giant. The player underwent a comprehensive series of scans immediately following the incident, and the preliminary findings indicate that a period away from competitive play will be necessary for his full recovery. Unfortunately, this injury will hence rule him out for the remainder of the 2023-24 season."
Rodriguez became a vital member of FC Goa very soon after joining during the summer transfer window. In his nine league appearances, he recorded three goals and three assists, displaying excellent form.
FC Goa have to find a way to make up for his notable effort rate and absence in the attacking third. Their next game is scheduled for December, when they will play NorthEast United FC in Guwahati before taking a vacation.
"Victor and the Club appreciate the concern and well-wishes from the fans, and updates on his recovery progress will be communicated in due course," FC Goa further said.
