As the ISL 2023-24 is set to resume, the shield race is getting more intense mainly between the top two clubs. Currently, Mohun Bagan and Mumbai City are going toe-to-toe for the shield with only 3-4 games left to be played.
The last Indian Super League match for both teams is set to be held on March 15 at Salt Lake Stadium. Considering both Mohun Bagan and Mumbai City FC win all of their next games, the shield race should be decided on that day.

The match was set to be played on March 14, but was delayed for a day very recently. As per reports, the Mariners requested ISL authorities to postpone the match as it was coinciding with the Bengali new year day.
Added to that, the Indian Premier League team Kolkata Knight Riders also have a home match which they will play on the same date at Eden Gardens. Hence, there is sure to be issues for the police to provide enough security for the Bengali new year and the IPL match.
The Islanders are sitting at the top of the table with 41 points from 19 games. Whereas, the Mariners are just behind them in 2nd place with 39 points from 18 games. Hence, they will still be in the race even if they lose one of their next four matches.
Before they faced Mumbai City, Mohun Bagan's next matches are against Chennaiyin FC at home and against Punjab FC and Bengaluru FC on the road. Mumbai's matches are against Hyderabad FC on the road and Odisha FC at home.
Considering their opponents’ current form, the Mariners should win all three of their next three matches. Whereas, the Islanders still have a tough match left to be played against Odisha FC who are currently sitting in 4th place in the table.
