By MyKhel Staff

In a goal-filled clash of the Indian Super League (ISL) 2024-25 at the Kalinga Stadium, Chennaiyin FC edged past Odisha FC with a 3-2 win on September 14, 2024. Farukh Choudhary (48', 51') scored two quick goals in the win.

It was Daniel Chima Chukwu's second-half goal (69') that turned decisive as Roy Krishna scored Odisha's second goal late in the injury time. Chennaiyin FC are also top of the table at the moment with the win.

Odisha FC vs Chennaiyin FC Farukh Choudhary

Odisha FC had taken the early lead, but Chennaiyin mounted a strong second-half comeback to claim all three points. Odisha got off to a dream start, with Diego Mauricio converting a penalty in the 9th minute after a foul on Hugo Boumous inside the box.

The early goal provided momentum for the home side, who looked in control for most of the first half. Despite Odisha's dominance, they were unable to extend their lead, and the first half ended with them up 1-0.

The second half, however, saw a dramatic shift in fortunes. Farukh Choudhary leveled the score for Chennaiyin in the 48th minute with a composed finish. Just three minutes later, Choudhary struck again, capitalizing on an error from Odisha goalkeeper Amrinder Singh to give the visitors a 2-1 lead. Chennaiyin continued to press, and in the 69th minute, Daniel Chima Chukwu added a third, leaving Odisha with a mountain to climb.

Odisha fought back and nearly staged a late comeback. Roy Krishna scored in the fifth minute of stoppage time to make it 2-3, but it was too late to prevent Chennaiyin from walking away with the win. Despite their efforts, Odisha couldn't overcome Chennaiyin's spirited second-half performance, and the visitors secured an impressive victory to kick off their campaign.
