ISL 2024-25: East Bengal on the verge of humble record in ISL ahead of Jamshedpur Clash

East Bengal have made a poignant start to their ISL campaign this season. After three defeats in three matches, Carles Cuadrat has left the helm.

As the Kolkata club currently remains the only team without a point, they will travel to Jamshedpur to face the Red Miners on Saturday (October 5).

Jamshedpur, on the other hand, currently sit 3rd in the table with 6 points in their first three matches. As the Red and Gold Brigade prepare for this uphill clash, assistant coach Bino George will be on the sidelines.

A win is imperative for East Bengal, not just to lift themselves from the bottom of the table but to avoid a humbling record as well. If East Bengal don't get a result at Jamshedpur, this will be the first time they slip to four defeats in the first four matches of an ISL season.

The Torch Bearers are playing in the ISL since 2020-21 season and they have never qualified for playoffs. Out of the four previous seasons, East Bengal finished 9th thrice and once they finished at the bottom of the table (11th as there were 11 clubs).

But even in those years, the club would have at least a point to show for after the first four matches, which makes this match even more important for Cleiton Silva and his troops.

East Bengal started their season with a 1-0 defeat in Bengaluru, followed by another away defeat against Kerala Blasters. Their poor run continued at home as well as they lost to FC Goa in Kolkata - which led to Carles Cuadrat's departure from the club.

Against Jamshedpur FC, the Kolkata club have an even record. Out of 9 matches, the stats look as symmetrical as it gets. Both Jamshedpur and East Bengal have three matches each, while thrice it has ended in a stalemate.
