FC Goa's season opener in the Indian Super League 2024-25 ended in disappointment as Jamshedpur FC clinched a 2-1 comeback victory at the Fatorda Stadium in Margao on September 16.
Jordan Murray scored a stunning winner late in the injury time after Javier Siverio's 75th-minute spot-kick cancelled the first-half strike by FC Goa's new signing Armando Sadikou.

Despite an early lead by the hosts, Jamshedpur turned the tide late in the game to secure all three points, marking their first-ever win at the venue in ISL history. The first half saw FC Goa dominate possession and test Jamshedpur goalkeeper Albino Gomes early on.
A determined Dejan Drazic created a couple of chances, including a cross for a header from Sadikou that forced Albino into a save. After a period of persistent attacks, FC Goa finally broke through in stoppage time. Rowllin Borges capitalised on a JFC defensive error to assist Sadikou, who fired a powerful shot from outside the box to give the home side a 1-0 lead heading into halftime.
Jamshedpur, managed by Khalid Jamil, displayed a more cautious approach in the first half, absorbing pressure and relying on counter-attacks. However, they came out stronger in the second half, with the introduction of Jordan Murray providing a much-needed spark. Despite a slow start to the half, Jamshedpur found their rhythm as the match progressed.
The turning point came in the 73rd minute when Javier Siverio earned a penalty after being brought down by FC Goa defender Odei Onaindia. Siverio confidently stepped up to convert from the spot, sending Goa goalkeeper Laxmikant Kattimani the wrong way to level the score at 1-1.
With momentum on their side, Jamshedpur continued to press for a winner. In the third minute of stoppage time, Jordan Murray delivered the decisive blow. After beating his marker, the Scottish forward unleashed a thunderous shot from the edge of the box, which struck the post and ricocheted into the net, leaving Kattimani helpless. Jamshedpur held on during the final minutes to complete a dramatic 2-1 comeback.
The result propels Jamshedpur FC to second place in the ISL standings after Matchweek 1, while FC Goa will need to regroup and address their defensive lapses ahead of their next fixture. Despite the loss, Sadikou's performance stood out, while Stephen Eze earned praise as the official Man of the Match for his defensive efforts.
