Mohammedan Sporting Club has confirmed its readiness to pay the Indian Super League (ISL) franchise fee by the July 31 deadline, dispelling rumours about financial hurdles. The club, fresh off their historic I-League victory, is set to join the ISL for the 2024-25 season.
Concerns arose about their willingness to pay the mandatory franchise fee of Rs. 12 crores, a requirement for all participating clubs to access the ISL's central revenue pool and promotional benefits. A senior official from the club confirmed to myKhel, "The deadline to pay the fee is 31st July. We will be paying the fee soon enough."

Earlier Mohammedan SC president Amiruddin Bobby assured to media that they would meet all necessary criteria to play in the ISL next season. The official also mentioned that there hasn't been any official message from FSDL regarding the payment.
If a club is promoted to the ISL but doesn't pay the franchise fee, they won't have access to the league's central revenue pool, marketing, TV-digital ads, or social media promotion from FSDL.
The fee, though significant, is essential for Mohammedan SC to fully participate in the ISL and benefit from its promotional activities. The club might need to seek additional funding beyond their current co-owners, Bunkerhill Private Limited, which holds a 51 per cent stake in the club. Following their I-League win, Bobby noted that Bunkerhill is supportive and cooperative if new investors arrive.
With the fee payment deadline approaching, Mohammedan SC remains confident in securing the necessary funds, signaling their preparedness for the upcoming ISL season.
