ISL 2024-25: Mohammedan SC concluded their Indian Super League (ISL) 2024-25 campaign without securing a single home victory, salvaging a 2-2 draw against Punjab FC at the Kishore Bharati Krirangan on Monday.
Despite trailing by two goals, the hosts staged a spirited second-half comeback to end their season with 13 points from 24 games, while Punjab FC wrapped up their campaign with 28 points.

The visitors started on the front foot, dictating the tempo with fluid passing and quick transitions that left Mohammedan SC struggling to keep up. Their early dominance paid off in the ninth minute when Asmir Suljic found space on the left wing and squared the ball to Ezequiel Vidal, who calmly slotted it into the bottom left corner to give Punjab FC the lead.
Punjab FC continued to press and doubled their advantage in the 53rd minute, with Vidal once again playing a pivotal role. His perfectly weighted through ball found Luka Majcen just outside the box, and a miscalculated interception attempt by Zodingliana Ralte saw the ball fall kindly for Majcen, who made no mistake in finding the bottom right corner.
However, Mohammedan SC refused to back down. Just five minutes later, Manvir Singh's pinpoint cross from the left flank sparked chaos in the Punjab FC box. Vanlalzuidika Chhakchhuak managed a desperate block, but substitute Marc Schmerböck reacted quickest, calmly placing the ball into the net to pull one back for the hosts.
Sensing an opportunity, Mohammedan SC piled on the pressure. In the 66th minute, Franca showcased his dribbling prowess, carrying the ball from midfield and outpacing Punjab's defenders. He timed his pass perfectly for Robi Hansda, who unleashed a powerful strike into the roof of the net, completing the comeback.
Punjab FC had a late chance to reclaim the lead in the 83rd minute when Khaiminthang Lhungdim's cross found Petros Giakoumakis, but the forward's effort was blocked, ensuring both teams shared the spoils.
Brief Scores: Mohammedan SC 2 (Marc Schmerböck 58', Robi Hansda 66') - 2 Punjab FC (Ezequiel Vidal 9', Luka Majcen 53')
