Bengaluru FC climbed out to the sixth place on the points table in the ongoing ISL 2023-24 season as Ryan Williams scored the solitary goal in the hosts 1-0 win over Chennaiyin FC at Sree Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru on Wednesday (February 7).
Ryan Williams's winning goal came in the 62nd minute of the match with Halicharan Narzary setting him up with a through ball. BFC's new signing Oliver Drost played his role in the goal too by winning the ball for the counter-attack.

Prior to the match, BFC coach Gerard Zaragoza asserted that he had nearly a month to prepare with this team after replacing Simon Grayson as manager in December. The strategist had high hopes that the hard work put in during practice would pay off on the field, but their 3-1 loss against Punjab FC dashed those hopes.
They required a powerful reaction, which they received tonight as the team worked together cohesively to exert steady pressure on the Marina Machans. The first half featured plenty of exciting action, with captain Sunil Chhetri and Javi Hernandez teaming up to try the former's effort from a novel set-piece and the latter trying his luck from the edge of the box.
Sadly, their efforts were not yielding positive results, so the conversation in their locker room must have revolved around maintaining the status quo in the hopes that Coyle's club would eventually falter.
These kinds of matches are sometimes decided by narrow margins, so when Scottish attacker Connor Shields tested Gurpreet Singh Sandhu a few minutes into the second half, it seemed like he may turn the tide of the match. Unfortunately, he lacked certainty and decisiveness in his endeavor, which meant that his side lost a great chance to take an early lead.
Bengaluru FC immediately showed that they had their act together, gradually pulling at the strings to make sure that their work from the game's opening essay paid off. Soon after, Chhetri and rookie Harsh Patre each took a shot from either side of the box, but the Chennaiyin FC defense returned just in time to prevent any problems.
Sadly, they were unable to do so as Halicharan Narzary set up Williams with a stunning through ball through the center in the 62nd minute. Williams prevented Chennaiyin FC from defeating Bengaluru FC this season by putting the ball past Debjit Majumder with incredible poise.
