By MyKhel Staff

ISL Match Result: Three different goal scorers found the net as Odisha FC defeated Jamshedpur FC 4-1 in their last match of the year in the Indian Super League in Bhubaneswar on Friday (December 29). Roy Krishna starred with a brace.

Isak Ralte and Diego Mauricio were the other goalscorers for the winning side as Odisha extended their unbeaten run to 11 games across all competitions and are now third on the points table with 24 points. They are level on points with second-placed FC Goa, who were held for a 1-1 draw at Guwahati in the last match of the year.

However, Jamshedpur FC Rei Tachikawa's spectacular goal from outside the box in the 23rd minute gave the visitors a good start to the match. But in the final twenty or so minutes of the match, the offensive triad of Roy Krishna, Isak Vanlalruatfela, and Diego Mauricio's assault enabled Odisha FC to tie the score.

With the exception of Mauricio's penalty kick goal, Krishna was the star of the show, contributing significantly to three of the four goals. In the 27th minute, he initially set up Isak for a goal, which the youthful player easily tapped in to score the equaliser.

Nine minutes later, the Fijian striker scored the game's first goal from the right side of the box after Mauricio's effort rebounded. After TP Rehenesh was fouled in the first half's extra time, Mauricio was given his just desserts and scored Odisha FC's third goal of the game with a hammered spot-kick.

After Isak broke through Jamshedpur FC's defense, Krishna scored the fifth goal of the game with another deft finish. The Odisha-based team defeated the visiting team 4-1 after the final whistle blew.

While Roy Krishna continued his goalscoring form this ISL, he was named 'Player of the Match'. Odisha FC have seven victories and three ties at the end of the first half of the ISL 2023-24 season after 12 games.

Their fluid offensive line and strong defense, which has allowed just 12 goals to be given up thus far, have allowed them to dominate. However, in order for the second part of the campaign to go more favorably for them, the Red Miners must make a few adjustments.
