ISL Transfer: East Bengal sign Provat Lakra on a two-year contract

East Bengal has signed full-back Provat Lakra for a two-year contract, which will last until the end of the 2025-26 season.

Lakra joined the Red & Gold Brigade as a free agent after his contract with Jamshedpur FC expired in May.

Born in Kalyani, Provat started his football journey with United Sports Club's youth system and made his senior debut for Southern Samity in 2017. He then played for Gokulam FC during the 2017-18 season before entering the Indian Super League (ISL) with NorthEast United FC for five seasons. The 26-year-old signed with Jamshedpur FC in July last year.

Provat Lakra's Performance and Versatility

A versatile full-back capable of playing on both left and right sides, Lakra clocked 1,283 minutes across 15 ISL and three Kalinga Super Cup matches last season. His contributions were instrumental in JFC reaching the Kalinga Super Cup semi-finals. In the 2023-24 ISL season, he recorded 30 interceptions, 60 successful duels, 19 successful aerial duels, three blocks, 84 recoveries, and 26 clearances. Throughout his ISL career, he has appeared in a total of 51 matches.
