Mohun Bagan Super Giants striker Armando Sadiku has joined FC Goa on loan for the upcoming season.

Armando Sadiku Career at a Glance

Born in Cërrik, Albania, Sadiku began his professional career with KF Turbina, playing two seasons in Albania's second tier. In 2009, he moved to KS Gramozi in the top-flight, where he scored eight goals and earned a transfer to KF Elbasani.

Sadiku then ventured to Switzerland, joining FC Locarno and becoming the top scorer in the Swiss Challenge League during his first full season in 2011-12. He later transferred to FC Lugano in July 2012, where he again topped the scoring charts with 20 goals. His success continued with a move to FC Zürich in November 2013, winning two Swiss Cups.

International Success and European Ventures

On the international stage, Sadiku has represented Albania at various levels. He scored his first senior international goal during the FIFA World Cup 2014 Qualifiers. His efforts were crucial in securing Albania's spot in UEFA Euro 2016, where he netted a historic goal against Romania.

In July 2017, Sadiku signed with Polish side Legia Warsaw, scoring on his debut in both the UEFA Champions League qualifying round and the Polish Cup. Six months later, he joined LaLiga club Levante, becoming only the second Albanian to play in Spain's top division.

He concluded the 2023-24 season with Mohun Bagan Super Giant by scoring 11 goals and providing one assist across 35 matches. His contributions helped secure both the Durand Cup and Indian Super League (ISL) Shield for his team.

Sadiku thrilled to join FC Goa

Sadiku expressed his enthusiasm about joining FC Goa. The Albania striker will spend the season at the West Coast and said he has only learnt good about the Gaurs.

"I am thrilled to join FC Goa, a team I consider among India's best. I've heard only good things about the Club and place from everyone I've spoken to. Having played against Goa last season, I experienced firsthand their quality and strong defensive organization. After speaking with Coach Manolo and CEO Ravi Puskur about their plans for the season, I was fully convinced," Sadiku said.

The Albania forward will be connecting with Manolo Marquez at the Gaurs helm, who will play the dual role as FC Goa coach and the India national team coach respectively.
