Luciano Spalletti praised Italy's newfound intensity after their stunning 3-1 comeback against France in the Nations League opener at Parc des Princes. Italy, trailing within 12 seconds due to Bradley Barcola's early goal, responded with Federico Dimarco's volleyed equaliser, sparking a remarkable turnaround.
Davide Frattesi put Italy ahead early in the second half, and Giacomo Raspadori sealed the win. This marked Italy's first-ever victory at Parc des Princes, having previously drawn three and lost one of their four matches there. Before this match, they had not beaten France since Euro 2008.

Italy had a disappointing Euro 2024 campaign, barely advancing from their group before being eliminated by Switzerland in the last 16. However, Spalletti noticed a different attitude from his players on Friday. "I saw an intensity during training that we didn't have last time," Spalletti said. "Perhaps the players' physical shape had a role."
"The season has just started, and there is new enthusiasm," Spalletti continued. "The other time, it was the end [of the season], and there had been things that perhaps led some to switch off." He emphasised that regardless of the game's outcome, they would have continued playing with determination.
The victory was slightly overshadowed by an injury to Arsenal defender Riccardo Calafiori following a hard tackle by Ousmane Dembele. Calafiori was in visible pain and needed assistance to leave the field. Despite this setback, Spalletti remains optimistic about Calafiori's recovery.
"We need to assess Riccardo," Spalletti said. "But with our staff, we have a good chance to have him back with us for the next game." Italy will face Israel in their next Group A2 match on Monday. On the same day, France will host Belgium in another significant encounter.
Spalletti highlighted the resilience of his chosen squad for both the Nations League and World Cup qualifiers. "Three, four or five players have stayed home this time," he noted. "But generally we are convinced that this group can give us so much."
This performance showcased Italy's potential under Spalletti's guidance as they aim for success in upcoming competitions.
