Manchester United set shock transfer fee for Borussia Dortmund loanee Jadon Sancho as his exit looms

Manchester United have reportedly disclosed their final asking price for Jadon Sancho, signalling their readiness to offload the winger permanently in the upcoming summer transfer window.

Jadon Sancho's signing was confirmed in a high-profile transfer move during the summer of 2021, where the Red Devils splashed a reported £73 million to secure his services from Borussia Dortmund.

However, the promised move failed to materialize as Sancho struggled to replicate his stellar form in Germany, quickly slipping down the pecking order at Old Trafford.

This season, things worsened after a conflict between Sancho and manager Erik ten Hag, resulting in the 23-year-old's exclusion from first-team proceedings.

He was loaned to Borussia Dortmund for the remainder of the season in January. Reports during the January transfer window suggested that Manchester United had extended an offer to clubs in the Saudi Professional League first. However, Dortmund's move materialized.

Now despite speculation about a potential buy option in the agreement, Dortmund may face challenges in securing a permanent deal. Dortmund's sporting director, Sebastian Kehl, recently hinted that the club may not have big funds to secure Sancho's services.

Manchester United are purportedly seeking a transfer fee ranging from £40-50 million for the English attacker, a figure that may prove challenging for Dortmund, especially considering his current weekly wage of £250,000.

With Erik ten Hag's tenure at Old Trafford casting doubt on Sancho's future with the club, the prospect of a permanent move to Dortmund appears dim. This leaves the door open for clubs in Saudi Arabia to potentially re-enter the picture as potential suitors for the talented winger.

Sancho emerges as one of Manchester United's prime assets on the transfer market, yet his future at the club appears uncertain as long as Ten Hag remains at the helm.

Only a potential managerial change, such as the departure of Ten Hag, could prompt a reevaluation of Sancho's situation, potentially offering him a second chance to prove his worth at Old Trafford.
