Unity Cup 2026: Jamaica Defeats India 2-0 To Book A Final Against Nigeria
India lost 0-2 to Jamaica in the Unity Cup 2026 semi-final at The Valley, London, on Wednesday, May 27, 2026. Courtney Clarke scored in the eighth minute. Kaheim Dixon added a second in 78 minutes. India now meets Zimbabwe in the third-place play-off.
Nigeria had beaten Zimbabwe in Tuesday's first semi-final. Jamaica will play Nigeria in a repeat of last year's final. The match was India's first on British soil since 2002. Jamaica, ranked 71st by FIFA, held control for long spells. India could not create clear chances.

Unity Cup: Early Jamaican Pressure & Clarke's Opener
India faced an early blow before they settled. A quick Jamaican counter in the eighth minute cut through India's shape. Gurpreet Singh Sandhu saved the first shot from a tight angle. India failed to clear the rebound and Clarke punished the loose pass.
Clarke showed calm play at the edge of the box. He shifted the ball to his right foot. He then hit a fierce shot into the top right corner. Sandhu dived at full stretch but could not reach the strike.
Unity Cup 2026: India Struggle In Final Third
Jamaica attacked with confidence after the opener. They often pushed through both wings and found space. Dixon almost made it 2-0 in the 17th minute. He ran through on goal, but Sandhu blocked well. The save kept India in the contest.
India gained some control later in the half. They put together short passes and kept the ball better. But their final pass was missing. Ryan Williams, Lallianzuala Chhangte, and Edmund Lalrindika could not shape clear attacks. Jamaica goalkeeper Coniah Boyce-Clarke stayed mostly untested.
India's Futile Response After Half-Time
Coach Khalid Jamil's side showed more drive after the break. Rahim Ali replaced Lalrindika at half-time. In the 53rd minute, Roshan Singh Naorem seized on a loose Jamaican pass. He fed Ali, who went through, and Chhangte scored from the second ball.
The move did not count as Ali was offside. Even so, the change in the chance altered the feel of the match. India pressed higher and passed with more purpose. Jamaica was pushed back for a spell. The equaliser, however, stayed out of reach.
Dixon scored the key second goal in the 78th minute. The Charlton Athletic winger scored at his club's ground. He picked up the ball near the box. He then slipped past defenders with sharp dribbles and quick feints.
Dixon created a yard of space with a drop of the shoulder. He drove a low shot through Akash Mishra's legs. The ball ran into the far bottom corner beyond Sandhu. India's push faded after that goal. Jamaica then closed the match without a major scare.
Unity Cup: Key Milestones For India
The game brought key personal steps for several Indians. Noufal PN and Ricky Shabong made their senior national team debuts. Edmund Lalrindika started for India for the first time. It was also India's first match in Britain since 2002, adding to the sense of occasion.
