James Rodriguez has joined Club Leon on a free transfer after parting ways with Rayo Vallecano. The Colombian midfielder, who once shone at Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, had a brief stint at Vallecano. He joined them following an impressive Copa America performance where he was pivotal in Colombia's journey to the final against Argentina.
During the Copa America, James was instrumental for Colombia. He created 20 chances, surpassing all other players by six. His six assists were unmatched, with the next best player trailing by four. Additionally, his expected assists stood at 2.06, leading the tournament ahead of Lionel Messi's 1.94.

Despite his past successes, James struggled to find form at Vallecano. He managed only six appearances in LaLiga and started just once. Now aged 33, he seeks a fresh start with Liga MX's Leon.
Since leaving Real Madrid in 2020, James has played for several clubs including Everton, Al-Rayyan, Olympiacos and Sau Paulo. However, he hasn't stayed longer than a season at any of these teams.
James Rodriguez's move to Club Leon marks another chapter in his career as he aims to rediscover his form and make a significant impact in Liga MX.
