Jamshedpur, Sep 2: After capturing Cameroonian central defender Andre Bikey as its fifth international signing for 2017-18 ISL season after Tiri, Memo, Kervens Belfort and Sameehg Doutiee, newly formed ISL franchise Jamshedpur FC have again boosted their ranks by another new signing with Brazilian quality to their squad as they sign 21-year-old midfielder Matheus Trindade Goncalves on Thursday.
The midfielder is not new to the Indian condition as last season he played for another ISL side FC Goa, appearing a total of 13 matches and scoring one solitary goal.
The 21-year-old who is nicknamed as 'Trindade’ started his career at the youth academy of Flamengo but since then has played for fourth tier clubs in Brazil like Osasco Audax and in the third tier for Ceara etc.
The midfielder was elated to sign for the new outfit and suggested that he is feeling at home at Jamshedpur FC.
“I am elated to join Jamshedpur FC. Coming from the Flamengo academy I feel at home with Jamshedpur FC. Am looking forward to start working with our head coach Steve Coppell for whom I have immense respect as a footballer and a coach,” said Trindade.
“I am sure he will make a difference in my overall game and I am eager to learn a lot from him. With my experience in the ISL last year, I hope to add on to the team success.”
Head Coach Coppell was also overjoyed at the new signing and said: “Trindade is young but a versatile midfielder, his creativity, and flare will be exciting for the fans of Jamshedpur FC. I am eager to start working with him during the pre-season. I welcome him to our family."
Trindade is generally a box to box midfielder but can play anywhere in the midfield, The Brazilian has long-range shot in his pocket and will most likely partner with fellow citizen Emerson Gomes who was contracted by the club earlier this August.
