Jamshedpur FC faced a tough loss against Indian Army in the Durand Cup 2024 today, falling 3-2 at the JRD Tata Sports Complex. Despite an early lead and controlling much of the match, Jamshedpur FC couldn't maintain their advantage.

This allowed Indian Army FT to mount a dramatic comeback in the final 20 minutes. The game started with high energy as Jamshedpur FC pressed forward aggressively. Just six minutes into the match, Albino Gomes made a crucial save, preventing Indian Army FT from taking an early lead.

Jamshedpur FC kept the pressure on, with Rei Tachikawa delivering a well-placed free kick in the 16th minute, which Javi Siverio headed towards goal, only to be denied by the Indian Army goalkeeper.

The match took a concerning turn in the 21st minute when Samir Murmu and Ashutosh Mehta collided mid-air while contesting a header. Ashutosh Mehta sustained a serious head injury and had to be taken off the field in an ambulance, with Shubham Sarangi coming on as a substitute in the 26th minute.

Jamshedpur FC finally broke through in the 39th minute when they were awarded a penalty after a foul in the box. Siverio confidently converted the penalty in the 42nd minute, putting Jamshedpur FC ahead.

The team maintained momentum as the first half wound down, with Aniket Jadhav nearly extending the lead in stoppage time. However, Javi Siverio made up for the miss, scoring again in the 45+3' minute from a corner by Imran Khan, doubling Jamshedpur FC's lead.

Despite numerous attacks, including a direct shot from Rei in the 53rd minute and a near-miss from Nikhil Barla in the 67th minute, Indian Army's goalkeeper held firm. The momentum shifted in the 70th minute when Rahul Ramakrishnan scored for Indian Army, cutting Jamshedpur FC's lead in half.

Indian Army continued their resurgence in the 77th minute when Alan Thappa equalized, stunning the home crowd. The comeback was completed in the 83rd minute when Vikash Thappa scored the decisive goal, securing a 3-2 victory for Indian Army.

As a result, Jamshedpur FC must now await other group stage outcomes to determine if they can progress as one of the best-placed second teams. The squad will continue their pre-season preparations with the Indian Super League set to begin on September 13.
