Jamshedpur FC winger Doutie stirs controversy by leaving team hotel without informing anyone

New Delhi, Dec 8: Indian Super League (ISL) newcomers Jamshedpur FC's star winger Sameehg Doutie has stirred a big controversy during the ongoing campaign as the South African winger apparently stormed away from the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium after his side's 1-0 win against Delhi Dynamos FC.

The winger irked the team management after he checked in at another hotel here without informing the team management.

The former ATK winger was a star addition to the newly formed franchise, however, has not been introduced from the start in every match.

Jamshedpur got their maiden win of the ISL after a 1-0 win over Delhi Dynamos in New Delhi on Wednesday night, however, the winger was believed to be irked with the team selection, who was only brought on in the 90th minute by head coach Steve Coppell.

Doutie who was not too pleased with what is said to have had a verbal confrontation with his teammates and coach later following which he left the stadium separately only to check in at another hotel without stating the team management.

Reportedly his team-mates and support staff searched for him all night and later only found out the unfamiliar behaviour of the winger in the next morning.

“Doutie kept quiet inside the team bus all through the journey from the stadium to the hotel. Once he reached the hotel, he must have left the hotel without informing anybody and all his team-mates and support staff were searching for him all night but could not find him,” a source in the team told PTI on the condition of anonymity.

“The team was about to leave for Jamshedpur in the morning (today) and by that time it was learnt he had checked in at a hotel near the airport. The team management tried to contact him but he was incommunicado,” the source added.

The franchise is now believed to be very much annoyed with the behaviour of the player and reportedly have decided to part ways with the winger from the ongoing season.

“It is a clear case of Doutie falling out with the team management. The club will release him very soon. His behaviour has shown that he is no longer interested to be with the team,” the team source said.

It is Doutie's second season at the ISL. In the 2015-16 season, he played for defending champions ATK and scored five goals in the tournament.
