Javier Hernandez eventually left Bayer Leverkusen to join West Ham in a £16 million and now revealed that playing in the best league in the world was too much to resist.

The 29-year-old eventually left Bayer Leverkusen to join West Ham in a £16 million and now revealed that playing in the best league in the world was too much to resist.

"It was a little bit simple really," Hernandez said.

"I'm in the best league in the world and West Ham showed me a lot of confidence and trust."

"West Ham is showing more ambition compared to the last seasons. They want to qualify for Europe, you can see that in the transfer window. That's why I'm here."

"They're one of the most historic teams in England, very ambitious this season and hopefully we can achieve our goals."

"There were other options - one in Spain and two in Italy. The last two transfers I made on the last day, this time it was more calm and easy. Thankfully I'm where I want to be."

Hernandez spent four seasons in England previously when he played for Manchester United, winning two league titles in 2011 and 2013. But after Sir Alex Ferguson's retirement, new manager Louis van Gaal sent him out on loan to Real Madrid and then sold him to Bayer Leverkusen eventually.

However, Mourinho recently speaking about the ex-red devils striker, admitted that if he had the chance he would have never let Chicharito go at any cost.

Regarding the comments, the Mexican all-time top scorer acknowledged the praise of Mourinho and claimed that it will be special to come back to Old Trafford again.

“I would say 'thank you'," Chicharito said of Mourinho.

“It's always very glad that a trainer like Jose Mourinho that is one of the best in the world speaks very well about me. I had very good moments and a very good four years in my old club."

"I am going back to my old house in Old Trafford and it's going to very special," the elated Hernandez concluded.

West Ham will start their season at the Old Trafford as a travelling team and will be hoping this time to make the season better from last season's 11th place finish.
