Madrid, Aug 27: After days of high drama, the stalemate over midfielder Javier Mascherano is at the verge of coming to an end as Liverpool and Barcelona are reportedly in final stages of negotiations.

According to a Spanish media report, a deal between the clubs is almost done.

The clubs have outlined an agreement, which will see the Catalan club increase their previous offer of 15 million euros to 16 million euros plus an additional 6 million euros dependent on various conditions, reported Spanish daily Sport.

While the deal is essentially done, finer details are yet to be finalised, the report said, adding that an announcement on the transfer could be expected as early as Friday, Aug 27.

This development comes after Barcelona vice-president Josep Maria Bartomeu travelled to Liverpool to seal the transfer deal.

The 26-year-old footballer wants to leave Anfield due to his family's failure to settle in Liverpool.
