London, March 19: Manchester United attacker Jesse Lingard has hailed the resilience power of his team-mate after their shocking defeat against Sevilla in the Champions League.

United defeated two heavyweight team's in the league, Chelsea and Liverpool and also came back from 2-0 to win a match against Crytal palace in the last three weeks, however, massively faltered against Sevilla in Champions League, losing the match 2-1 to bow out of the Champions League.

This defeat has shaken the fanbase and the entire team and the fans, pundits all have teared up the team and manager with criticism.

However, the English powerhouse overcame the stress in their last match in the FA Cup QF last weekend and comprehensively defeated Brighton and Hove Albion 2-0 to progress into the next round.

Lukaku scored a header from a superb ball from Matic to make it 1-0 whereas in the 83rd minute the Red Devils sealed the victory with a Matic goal, from a set-piece of Ashley Young.

Lingard, who also was part of United's starting squad in the game, now following the game has hailed the characters of the players and stated he and his teammates knew they needed a win in order to put the woes of midweek behind them.

The England winger Lingard told the club's website: "Brighton sat back and hit us on the counter-attack a few times, which we were obviously aware of before the match, but we knew we needed to win and we got the win, which was the most important thing.

"Of course (confidence took a knock after Tuesday night). It's always difficult for a team to be knocked out of a competition, but we showed the character to bounce back and not let anything faze us."

United now enter the international break 16 points behind runaway leaders Manchester City sitting second and will be up in action again in last day of March against Swansea City at home in their quest for top four spots.

The FA Cup is currently the only competition offering a genuine chance of silverware this season to United and the Red Devils will face Tottenham Hotspur in the semi-final.
