Jharkhand women footballers played with insufficient kits

Jamshedpur, Feb 13 (PTI) Jharkhand women''s football team,which won their opening match in the National Games, were leftto play with insufficient number of jerseys and other kits astheir state federation failed to provide them.

A 20-member Jharkhand women''s team arrived here lastnight without track suits and insufficient number of otherfootball kits though the state football body assured theplayers to provide them before the match starts today.

Even as the players entered the field to take on Haryanaat JRD Tata Sports Complex here, they were short of jersey, ateam official said.

"We have given only 14 jersey for players and two forofficials. No football shoe or proper socks were providedforcing the players to play the match with their own," theofficial told PTI.

"The incoming and outgoing players had to exchange theirjersey during substitution in course of the match. The socksprovided for the players was meant for tennis players, the hesaid.

"Despite all, our players have proved their mettle andedged out Haryana 4-2. The players won the match even afterthey had to play in such circumstances. Hats off to them," theofficial said.
