Jhon Duran has secured a season-long loan move to Fenerbahce, marking his return to European football after a brief stint in the Saudi Pro League. Earlier this year, Duran transferred from Aston Villa to Al-Nassr for an estimated 71 million, teaming up with Cristiano Ronaldo. During his time at Al-Nassr, he netted 12 goals across all competitions, contributing significantly to their third-place league finish.

Fenerbahce has faced two consecutive seasons without silverware, finishing second behind Galatasaray in the Super Lig last season. The club is hopeful that Duran's addition will bolster their attacking options and help them reclaim domestic glory. "We have reached an agreement with Al Nassr FC and Jhon Duran for the player to join our squad on a one-year loan deal," Fenerbahce announced. "We wish him a successful season in our yellow and navy colours."

Duran made a name for himself at Aston Villa during the first half of the 2024-25 season. Competing with Ollie Watkins for a starting spot under Unai Emery, he impressed with long-range goals against Everton and Bayern Munich. He scored 20 goals overall for Villa, with 12 coming in the 2024-25 season alone. His performances earned him the reputation of a super-sub as he scored eight Premier League goals, four of which came off the bench.

Interest from Other Clubs

Before joining Al-Nassr, West Ham showed strong interest in Duran, making two bids—the highest being 57 million—which were turned down. Chelsea also expressed interest in acquiring his services. Despite these offers, Duran opted for a move to Saudi Arabia but now returns to Europe under Jose Mourinho's guidance at Fenerbahce.

Duran's desire to return to European football was reported last month, leading to his current loan arrangement with Fenerbahce for the 2025-26 season. His previous success at Villa and potential impact at Fenerbahce make him an exciting prospect for fans and analysts alike as he embarks on this new chapter in Istanbul.
