Paris Saint-Germain have secured the services of Joao Neves from Benfica. The 19-year-old midfielder has signed a five-year contract with the Ligue 1 champions in a deal valued at up to €70 million. Neves joined Benfica in 2016, progressing through their youth system before debuting for the first team in December 2022.
Neves played a crucial role in helping Benfica clinch the Primera Liga title in the 2022-23 season. Last season, he became a regular starter, featuring in 33 matches, scoring three goals, and creating 25 chances in Portugal's top division.

Paris Saint-Germain expressed their excitement about signing Neves on social media. "Paris Saint-Germain is delighted to announce the signing of Joao Neves. The 19-year-old midfielder has committed to the Club until 2029," read a tweet from PSG's official account.
"I'm very proud to be joining Paris Saint-Germain, a very ambitious club," said Neves. "I'm going to give my all to help my team-mates, to grow at this fantastic club and to win numerous titles."
This acquisition marks PSG's second signing of the transfer window following goalkeeper Matvey Safonov's arrival in June.
The young talent's addition is expected to bolster PSG’s midfield options as they aim for more domestic and international success.
Neves' move highlights PSG's strategy of investing in young talent with significant potential for growth and contribution to the team's future ambitions.
The club looks forward to integrating Neves into their squad as they prepare for the upcoming season.
