Jonathan David Joins Juventus On Five-Year Deal Following Departure From Lille

Juventus have secured Jonathan David on a free transfer. The forward, who departed Lille after the 2024-25 season, has committed to a five-year deal with Juventus, lasting until June 2030. During his time in Ligue 1, David scored 87 goals in 178 matches for Lille. Since his debut in August 2020, only Kylian Mbappe has more goals in the French league.

David's overall performance at Lille was impressive, with 116 goals and 28 assists in 249 appearances across all competitions. His best season for assists was the last one, where he provided 12. In the previous Ligue 1 season, David matched Ousmane Dembele by scoring the most Opta-defined 'big' chances, tallying 16 goals from such opportunities.

David played a crucial role in Lille's success during his tenure. He contributed significantly to their Ligue 1 title win in his first season and helped secure the Trophee des Champions at the start of the following campaign. His ability to convert half of his big chances into goals highlights his efficiency as a forward.

Reflecting on his move to Juventus, David expressed admiration for the club. "Growing up as a kid, I always looked up to a club like Juventus and thought, this is probably one of the top 10 biggest clubs in the world," he shared on the official Bianconeri website. "So, for me to be sitting here today is an honour."

The Canadian international is eager to face new challenges in Serie A. He acknowledged that adapting to a new league and teammates will be demanding but is optimistic about achieving success with Juventus. "Every step of the way is always a challenge," he noted. "I hope we have a great season and do everything to win titles here."

David's arrival at Juventus brings high expectations given his track record in France. With his proven goal-scoring ability and ambition to succeed, he aims to make a significant impact at his new club.
