Jonny Evans has taken on a new role at Manchester United as the head of loans and player pathways, marking the end of his football career. Evans, who played 241 matches for United over two periods, achieved significant success with the club. His honours include winning the Champions League, three Premier League titles, the FA Cup, and two EFL Cups.
Throughout his career, Evans also played for Royal Antwerp, Sunderland, West Bromwich Albion, and Leicester City. In total, he made 386 appearances in the Premier League. During this time, he maintained 97 clean sheets and had a tackle success rate of 69.4%. He also won 63.7% of his duels and contributed 14 goals along with 13 assists.

In his new position at Manchester United, Evans will collaborate with Jason Wilcox, the director of football, and academy directors to focus on individual player development. His aim is to prepare young talents for first-team opportunities. "I want to officially announce my retirement from my playing career, not with sadness, but with pride, gratitude and excitement for the next chapter ahead," said Evans.
Evans expressed deep gratitude towards those who supported him throughout his two-decade-long career in professional football. "I'll be forever indebted to the managers, coaches, staff and, of course, my teammates that I have had the privilege of working alongside throughout my 20 years in professional football," he stated.
He extended special thanks to fans who stood by him during every phase of his journey. "My biggest and most heartfelt thanks must go to the fans who have supported me during every step of the journey," he added. He cherished being on the field and feeling their passion both at home games and away matches.
Evans is eager to assist emerging players in reaching their full potential at Manchester United. With personal experience in loan spells during his playing days, he understands their importance in a player's growth. "I am looking forward to working with the next generation of talented players to support them to reach their potential," he remarked.
He is enthusiastic about enhancing pathways for young players into Manchester United's first team. His goal is to continue fostering an environment where youth can thrive within the club's legacy.
