Joost gets Barclays EPL internet clip rights for Indian subcontinent

Mumbai, Mar 18 (UNI) Nimbus Sport International today announced that Joost, a global online television platform, had acquired the on-demand internet clip rights for the Barclays Premier League in the Indian sub-continent.

Joost's registered subscribers will be able to view highlights of all Barclays Premier League matches after each fixture round as part of a dedicated advertising-funded Barclays Premier League channel, a release said.

Commenting on the occasion, Nimbus Sport International Vice President Thomas Klingebiel said, ''We are delighted to be partnering with Joost to make the Barclays Premier League accessible to all Indians. Joost is a new and innovative platform and the Barclays Premier League content will take its popularity to new levels.'' Nimbus Sport has been awarded the mobile and internet rights for the next three years, covering the 1,140 Barclays Premier League matches that will be played until the end of the 2009-10 season. The 2007-2008 Barclays Premier League season kicked off on August 11, 2007 and will showcase 380 matches until May 2008.

Nimbus Sport is marketing these rights in conjunction with PA Sport EV - a subsidiary of PA Sport.

The rights awarded to Nimbus Sport span countries across the globe including China, Japan, Korea, Hong Kong, Thailand, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and other countries in Asia, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Algeria, Egypt, as well as countries in the Middle-East and North Africa, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Greece, and Belgium in Europe, and reaching as far as Brazil, Australia and New Zealand, the release added.
