Inter Miami's veteran left-back Jordi Alba is preparing for what could be one of the most defining tournaments of his decorated career as the MLS side gears up for the FIFA Club World Cup 2025.
With the global spectacle set to begin on June 14 at Miami's Hard Rock Stadium, Inter Miami will kick off proceedings against African giants Al Ahly.

Despite being 36, Alba remains driven as ever and views the tournament as an exciting challenge. "I feel the same excitement and desire as always, but I'm aware of how tough it'll be," he shared to FIFA in an interview. Reflecting on his decorated past with Barcelona, he added, "I've been lucky enough to play for Barcelona alongside some of the best players in the world, and I know how hard it is to compete against the top teams."
Alba joined Inter Miami nearly two years ago and continues to feel at home. "The club has really looked after me right since day one. My family also feels very much at home here, and I still have that hunger to compete and to keep winning," he said. Despite his age, Alba insists the fire still burns bright. "As long as my body holds up, and I still have the same mindset as I do now, I'll continue to fight to achieve every goal I set myself."
When asked about the upcoming Club World Cup, Alba didn't hide his ambitions. "We want to be competitive and to make our mark... and we're keen to make the fans proud."
Alba also highlighted his special connection with Lionel Messi: "All it takes is a glance for us to know what each other is thinking... I've been on the receiving end of a fair few of his assists, and I also have him to thank for having been able to clock up so many assists."
The Spanish star is optimistic about the atmosphere and believes the tournament will leave a lasting impact: "It's a special competition... I'm sure that the fans of all teams are going to be captivated by the tournament and will have a great time."
