London, Feb 9: Jose Mourinho's expectations of landing Italian and Napoli midfielder Jorginho has hit a roadblock as the 26-year-old midfielder's agent has revealed that his client is not willing to shift to Manchester because of bad weather.
Earlier there were rumours that Jorginho's agent was having talks with English Premier Giants Manchester United and already meet the United representatives over a possible summer deal.
United are in the market for a midfielder after it appeared that their star player Marouane Fellaini is reluctant to sign a new deal and would leave the club next year whereas veteran Michael Carrick could also end his playing career after this season.
Both Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic have proved their worth to be a first-team regular at United, however, Herrera this season has been struggling gain rhythm. Apart from these two, the only youngster Scott Mctonimay is currently available in the rank.
Therefore to boost his midfield rank, Mourinho has reportedly targetted the Italian midfielder who is a visionary with excellent passing and interception skills and is reportedly looking at the Italian player as the new addition to the squad for a Summer joining.
United boss Jose Mourinho apparently is a big admirer of Jorginho and has been keeping an eye on his development. Jorginho's playing style has similar traits of midfielder Carrick and the player would easily feature in beside Nemanja Matic in Mourinho's system, allowing Paul Pogba the liberty to move further ahead.
Thus the Portuguese are reportedly looking to budge on the possibility to land the player in the Summer who has a contract at Naples till 2020.
However, United's hope of landing the player might have now suffered a big obstacle as his agent, Joao Santos
has opened up about his client's future revealing that the player although is not right now not signing a new contract but is happy at Naples and will not move to Manchester because it rains too much there.
Santos told Radio CRC: 'Jorginho is fine, he’s always at Napoli’s disposal.
"He’s fine with Sarri, he plays his role and he’s happy. On Saturday I will be at the San Paolo stadium, a very important match awaits us," we hope Fiorentina will succeed in getting a result against Juventus.
"Right now I’m just here to see the Lazio game, we’re not talking about a renewal yet because we want to focus on the league.
"From June he’ll have two years on his contract and maybe we’ll start discussing it then, it’s pointless messing with his head," he added.
"The contract isn’t expiring anytime soon, there’s time. He’s happy in Naples, Jorginho is happy and the city is very beautiful.
"Manchester United and Manchester City? When you’re playing for the Serie A leaders it’s only logical that important teams will ask for updates: for example on the length of the contract.
"I’m glad to come here [to Naples] too, it’s a very Brazilian climate. In Manchester, it rains too often!"
Jorginho has thrived exceptionally well at Napoli under Sarri lately, since joining the Serie A giants in 2013 and started in 20 Serie A fixtures in defensive midfield.
He has scored twice and provided three assists helping his side to top the Serie A table in the current campaign as of now.
