Juan Mata wants to finish career at Manchester United just like Ryan Giggs

London, Nov 25: Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata has suggested that he is relishing his stay at the club and is interested in expanding his four-year remain at Old Trafford.

The Spanish midfielder was United's most costly signing when he joined United from Chelsea in 2014 for £37.1m. Since then he has gone ahead to score 28 league goals from 120 appearances.

However, Jose Mourinho's entry in 2016 brought light into rumours that the 29-year-old could be surplus to requirements after he let him go from Chelsea in January 2014.

However, the Spanish playmaker slowly turned into a powerful figure under Mourinho and 34 appearances under him.

Mata's present contract lapses next summer, however, reportedly the club have already triggered a one-year extension of his contract which will now keep hold of the 29-year-old until 2019.

And while talking about his Old Trafford future, the 29-year-old suggested that he wants to broaden his Old Trafford stay and go ahead to play into his forties like Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs.

Asked if he can see himself concluding his career at United, Mata told ESPN FC: "Why not? I'm 29 and hopefully, I can play football for some more years.

"It would be great to play until I'm 40 like Ryan Giggs. But that's still a bit far, still 11 years.

"I'm happy here. The club is massive, the support we have is massive. I've been settled down in the city since year one. Now it's my fourth year in Manchester.

"You never know what can happen in football and in life. But my feeling now is that I'm happy here and I wouldn't have any problem continuing here for more time."

The Red Devils who are currently second in the Premier League are eight points behind leaders Manchester City and will host Brighton and Hove Albion today with a hope of maintaining their winning run at home.
