Real Madrid and England midfielder Jude Bellingham has expressed his frustration over a muscle injury he sustained during training. The injury, which was confirmed via his social media account on X, is expected to sideline the 21-year-old until at least the end of September. This means he will miss Real Madrid's next three matches and England's first two fixtures under interim manager Lee Carsley.
In an official statement, Real Madrid disclosed, "Following tests carried out today [Friday] on Jude Bellingham by Real Madrid's medical team, the player has been diagnosed with an injury to the plantaris muscle in his right leg. His progress will be monitored." Bellingham tried to remain positive despite his frustration, suggesting that last season's demanding schedule might have impacted his fitness.

Bellingham shared his thoughts on X, writing, "Nothing I hate more than missing games but trying to see the positive side and maybe my body is telling me it needs a bit more rest after a busy year. I'm very frustrated but I'll be supporting the lads like a fan until I can rejoin them again in my best and strongest form."
Bellingham made 54 appearances for both club and country during the 2023-24 season. His campaign extended through to the final of Euro 2024 with England. The tournament concluded on 14 July with England losing 2-1 to Spain. Throughout the competition, Bellingham played every game and was substituted only once in normal time.
The comments section on Bellingham's social media post was filled with well wishes from teammates and fans alike. The official England team's X account posted, "Speedy recovery, Jude," while similar messages poured in on Instagram from his Real Madrid colleagues. New signing Kylian Mbappe commented, "My boy," while Vinicius Junior added, "My brother!! You will come back stronger!!!" Goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois also showed support by saying, "Soon back my bro."
Bellingham's first match of the 2024-25 season took place on 14 August in the Super Cup where Real Madrid triumphed over Atalanta with a 2-0 victory. Despite this early start to the season, his recent injury has put a temporary halt to his contributions on the field.
As Bellingham focuses on recovery, he remains optimistic about returning stronger. His commitment to supporting his team from the sidelines highlights his dedication and passion for football.
