Julian Alvarez: Is Arsenal Going to Snatch the Man City Forward? Who Else Is Interested to Sign Messi's Compatriot?

For the last few weeks several sources have been reporting the news of a fallout between the Argentine youngster Julian Alvarez and the City boss Pep Guardiola and the former has been expressing his dissatisfaction to the club about the play-time and chances in the important matches he got in the last season.

Though many big fishes in European club football have already started to link up with the 24-year-old forward, he didn't clarify his final decision on what he is going to do.

Atletico Madrid was the first to approach but very soon Ligue1 side Paris Saint-Germain also joined the race and as per the latest news City’s EPL rival Arsenal also monitoring the situation in an attempt to capitalise on the situation.

Why does Julian Alvarez want to Leave Guardiola's Man City?

Reportedly the Argentine forward is discontented at the Etihad Stadium with the opportunities he got, specifically for being sidelined in the important matches. But in the last season, Alvarez played 54 matches out of the possible 59 matches, which is around 91% and started 39 of them, i.e.; 66% of the matches.

Only two midfielders Phil Foden and Bernardo Silva had more starts than this Argentine lad. Given the squad depth and star-studded team of City, the stats are not bad for a youngster and a comparatively newer player. There are also reports about his family’s unwillingness to stay in Manchester, this could be another factor behind his intention to move out.

Though Pep Guardiola earlier mentioned Alvarez as a key player for the upcoming season but later also stated that he won't force an unhappy player to stay at the club. According to the experts, despite the club’s unwillingness moving out of the Argentine is imminent and as Argentina's Olympic campaign is over it is the time for the youngster to make a decision.

What Are the Possible Destinations for Julian Alvarez?

Initially, the Argentine was linked to Chelsea for a possible move out but the Spanish giant Atletico Madrid came into play and made a bid of €60m which fell short of the English side’s demand. In the meantime, PSG also made a formal offer which reportedly exceeded the bid of Atletico Madrid.

But the latest contestant in the race is Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal as the Gunners are ready to land the recent Copa America winner to bolster their attack. If the transfer materialises then it would be the next big signing after Calafiori for the North London side.

Though City's asking price of €70m plus around €20m add-on could be a problem. Also, City would not want to sell such talent to a direct rival of their EPL title race. As of now Atletico Madrid is the preferred destination for the youngster as the La Liga side is also keen to fill the void created by the moving out of Alvaro Morata. But PSG's huge offer could also play a role in this transfer saga.
