Bengaluru, November 27: Iconic German manager Jupp Heynckes has ruled out staying beyond next summer at Bayern Munich, despite president Uli Hoeness claims that he could be persuaded to extend his stay.

Heynckes, 72, was appointed interim coach until the end of the season in October which was his fourth spell in charge of the German giants.

The decision worked wonders for the Bavarians as they saw a significant change of fortunes under the manager who led them to their fifth Champions League title a few years back.

Asked if Heynckes could stay on at the end of the season, Hoeness said on Friday (November 24): "I believe it is possible, yes - nothing is ruled out."

However, responding to his close friend's comments after Bayern's 2-1 defeat against Borussia Monchengladbach, Heynckes said: "I don't know why Uli said what he said.

"We have an extremely clear agreement and that runs until June 30, 2018, and that is the way it is staying. I don't want to comment on this every week. That's pretty clear."

Heynckes returned to the club this season after Carlo Ancelotti was sacked and he endured his first loss in 10 games when Bayern fell at Borussia Moenchengladbach 2-1 in the Bundesliga.

“We invested far too little, played too slow and never really got into a rhythm,” Heynckes said.

“Gladbach relied on counterattacks and played a clever tactical game.”

"But in the second half we invested a lot more, the game was concentrated on their goal.

"We were better defensively against the counter-attack and we had a host of opportunities to score, but as I said, we lost the game in the first half."

Bayern’s lead was cut to three points by second-placed Leipzig, which won at home over Werder Bremen 2-0. Heynckes’ team is five points ahead of Schalke.
