London, Jan 29: Jurgen Klopp has hinted that contract rebel Emre Can is not going anywhere in January transfer window, however, is all set to leave the club at his current deal's end next year with reportedly Juventus and Bayern Munich interested.
Can is currently in the final six months of his current deal at Anfield and reportedly rejected a new contract extension at Anfield. The 23-year-old is believed to have stalled the deal to make him eligible in January to sign a pre-contract with other clubs for next summer.
The player is strongly linked with Italian giants Juventus, whose general director Giuseppe Marotta also openly admitted that the club is doing everything to bring the player in Turin whereas the possibility of Bayern luring away another German player on a free transfer is also surfacing in the market.
And giving both the clubs a positive sign, the Reds boss Jurgen Klopp has now all-but-confirm that the player will leave on a free transfer in the Summer but insists the midfielder will not leave during the January transfer window.
In an interview with German TV station DAZN after Saturday’s FA Cup defeat to West Brom, Klopp said: “He’ll stay beyond the winter.”
“Emre is still a young lad but he has developed into a great player and is very important for us.
“Sometimes a player just wants to sit out his contract. That’s not cool for the club, but there are moments in which you have to accept it.
“And as long as the player behaves like Emre does, then I have absolutely nothing to complain about. He gives everything he has and identifies with the club.”
Can joined Liverpool from Leverkusen under then manager Rodgers and since then has developed as one of the key players of the current Liverpool side.
The midfielder already has made 28 appearances for the KOPs this season in all competitions, scoring on four occasions and was also handed the captains armband in their last two games.
And now should the German midfielder finally opted to leave the club in next season, Jurgen Klopp again has to jump into the market to fill the void left by one of the most impressive midfielders of his squad.
Also, it will surely be hard for the manager to find a proper replacement who is already sort of options in midfield after Coutinho's departure and losing a player like Can who developing into one of World's best central midfielder as a free transfer will be disheartening for the Kops.
