
London, March 15: Jurgen Klopp has delivered a big boost to his injured academy sensation Rhian Brewster as according to reports the youth forward has been told he will be promoted to the first-team squad next season.
The 17-year-old striker is yet to make his debut for us at senior level, however, creating waves at the youth level, scoring six and assisting seven this year. He also guided England to their maiden U-17 World Cup earlier last year where he grabbed the Golden Boots.
But unfortunately, stalling his development, the player recently suffered an injury layoff during the U23s’ 3-2 loss at the hands of Manchester City and now has been ruled out for the remainder of the season.
The 17-year-old has undergone two surgeries, first on his ankle and then his knee, and is now continuing his rehabilitation at the senior training ground Melwood, rather than the Kirkby Academy.
And to give him more possibility towards his full fitness and help keep his spirits up reportedly manager Jurgen Klopp has delivered a message to the youngster. He apparently has been told that the player is already in the good books of the German and will also be included in the next year's Pre-season campaign.
Brewster has not yet penned down a professional contract with the club because he is yet to reach 18. however, with the player turning 18 next month and it is expected that the Merseyside side will tie him down with a long-term deal, is likely to be back in full training by July.
The Liverpool youngster was earlier made headlines when he made an accusation of racially abused by Spartak Moscow defender Leonid Mironov in December during a Uefa Youth League match.
In an interview with the Guardian, Brewster said: “I love the game. I’m never going to stop loving it. It’s just disappointing to know it’s still in the game. If it wasn’t in the game, it would be so much better.
"You wouldn’t have to worry about playing abroad, worrying about what the fans are going to say, or what another player is going to say. I wouldn’t have to worry that if I score they are going to call me all types of names.”
However, later UEFA launched an investigation regarding the matter and gave a clean sheet because of insufficient evidence.
