Jurgen Klopp Addresses Criticism Regarding His New Role With Red Bull Soccer Management
Jurgen Klopp has expressed confusion over the backlash following his appointment as the global head of soccer at Red Bull. Earlier this month, the German signed a five-year deal with the energy drink company, marking his first position since leaving Liverpool in June. Starting in January, Klopp will oversee strategic management for Red Bull's international clubs, including RB Leipzig and New York Red Bulls.
In his new role, Klopp will guide teams on playing philosophy, transfer strategies, and coaching development. Despite this, former clubs like Borussia Dortmund have questioned his decision. Critics argue that joining Red Bull contradicts his earlier statement about feeling drained when he left Anfield.

On the Einfach mal Luppen podcast, hosted by Toni Kroos and Felix Kroos, Klopp addressed these concerns. "I really don't know what exactly I could have done for everyone to be happy," he said. "I didn't want to step on anybody's toes, definitely not, and, personally, I love all of my ex-clubs."
Klopp clarified that he sees himself more as an advisor than a coach in this position. He aims to provide support without interfering with coaches' work. "Basically, I'm an advisor," he explained. "Hopefully, I can bring calm in different ways and, in other situations, assess things correctly and help the coaches."
The 57-year-old emphasised his desire to share his experience without disrupting existing systems. He stated that he wants to contribute positively to the football world he knows well.
Many were surprised by Klopp's move to Red Bull given his previous comments about needing a break from football management. However, Klopp insists that it was never his intention to do nothing at all after leaving Liverpool.
Klopp also mentioned that while he's open to working for a few more years due to his age of 57, he doesn't see himself returning to coaching sidelines anytime soon. Instead, he is focused on leveraging his expertise in a supportive capacity within the Red Bull network.
This new chapter with Red Bull offers Klopp an opportunity to remain active in football while stepping away from direct coaching responsibilities. His involvement aims to enhance club strategies across various regions without overshadowing existing team dynamics or leadership structures.
