Juventus Draws 2-2 With Parma, Impacting Title Race Dynamics

In a thrilling match, Juventus drew 2-2 with Parma, maintaining their unbeaten Serie A record but slipping to fourth place. Key goals from Weston McKennie and Timothy Weah kept the hosts competitive.

Juventus managed to secure a 2-2 draw against Parma at home on Wednesday, keeping their unbeaten streak intact. However, they slipped to fourth in the Serie A standings. Parma, with only one win this season, took an early lead with Enrico Delprato's header in the third minute. Juventus equalised in the 31st minute through Weston McKennie's goal.

Simon Sohm restored Parma's lead seven minutes later after Dennis Man set him up for a close-range finish. Juventus responded again with a Timothy Weah volley four minutes into the second half. Despite remaining undefeated this season, Juventus now have 18 points, seven behind leaders Napoli. They dropped to fourth as Atalanta overtook them following a 2-0 victory over Monza.

Juventus and Parma Share Points in Draw

Parma currently sits 14th in the standings with nine points and shares the fewest wins in the league with just one victory. The youthful team fielded by Fabio Pecchia was the youngest starting lineup to face Juventus in Serie A since the three-points-for-a-win era began in 1994/95, averaging 23 years and 202 days.

Sohm became Parma's ninth different scorer this season, trailing only Fiorentina with 11 and Milan and Inter with ten each. The goals have come from various positions on the pitch. Delprato's goal was assisted by Botond Balogh, marking the first time since January 2015 that two Parma defenders combined for a goal in Serie A.

The match highlighted Juventus' tendency to draw games this year. They have drawn 16 out of their last 30 Serie A matches, winning ten and losing four. This is a record among Europe's top five leagues. Only once before have they recorded more draws in a single calendar year—17 times back in 1956.

The game showcased both teams' strengths and weaknesses, reflecting their current standings and performances this season. Juventus remains competitive but needs to convert more draws into wins to climb higher up the table.
