Juventus Edge Atalanta 1-0 As Boga Seals Top-four Push In Serie A

Jeremie Boga delivered the decisive moment for Juventus at New Balance Arena, scoring early in the second half to secure a 1-0 win over Atalanta. The result lifts Juventus into the Serie A top four ahead of Como's clash with Inter, while Atalanta stay seventh and now sit seven points away from the Champions League positions.

Boga's impact also continues a strong run of personal form in Serie A, adding another goal to an impressive recent spell. Since opening the league account for Juventus on 1 March against Roma, Boga has become one of the most efficient scorers in Italy's top tier, helping to drive the club's push for Champions League qualification.

The underlying numbers show a very different story to the final scoreline, as Raffaele Palladino's side created far more than Juventus. Atalanta generated 1.82 expected goals from 22 shots, while Juventus produced 0.63 expected goals from only seven attempts. Despite that attacking volume, Atalanta failed to convert pressure into a goal and left without reward.

Charles De Ketelaere played a central role in Atalanta's display and featured heavily across several metrics. De Ketelaere attempted a match-high four shots, recorded nine touches in the opposition box and created six chances. De Ketelaere also contested 21 duels and drew five fouls, yet still could not deliver the equaliser Atalanta needed.

The hosts began aggressively and put Juventus under heavy pressure during the opening stages. Davide Zappacosta forced Michele Di Gregorio into an early save, before Nicola Zalewski went close with a shot that drifted just wide. Soon after, Giorgio Scalvini met a cross with a powerful header that struck the post inside the first nine minutes.

Juventus gradually settled following that intense spell and started to threaten before half-time. Khephren Thuram tried his luck from distance but missed the target, then Lloyd Kelly also fired narrowly wide. Atalanta almost punished Juventus right at the end of the first half when Nikola Krstovic attempted an acrobatic bicycle kick that flew past the left post.

The decisive moment arrived three minutes after the restart when Atalanta failed to clear a dangerous cross. Emil Holm delivered from the right and the ball was not dealt with, leaving Boga free in front of an exposed goal. Marco Carnesecchi was stranded in no man's land, and Boga reacted quickest to guide the ball into the unguarded net.

Atalanta responded by increasing the pressure again, chasing an equaliser deep into the second half. Di Gregorio produced an important save to deny a close-range header from Berat Djimsiti as Juventus dropped deeper. In the 88th minute, Gianluca Scamacca glanced a header just over the crossbar, and Juventus held on to leave with all three points.

Despite Atalanta's territorial dominance and superior attacking numbers, Juventus' efficiency in both penalty areas decided the contest. Boga's clinical finish, combined with Di Gregorio's key interventions and Atalanta's missed chances, allowed Juventus to strengthen Champions League hopes, while Atalanta face a larger gap to close in the remaining Serie A fixtures.
