According to reports, the English champions were ready to break their bank with a £61 million offer for Sandro to make him the world's most expensive defender.

However, Juventus manager Allegri, addressing the media on Sunday (July 30) night after their 1-1 friendly draw against Roma, claimed that the player would be staying at the Allianz Stadium, pouring cold water on Chelsea's dream.

“Alex Sandro? He's a Juventus player, he's extraordinary and he won't leave us," Allegri said.

"He's improved so much since he came to Juve and he has the margins to improve again. Along with Marcelo, he's one of the best in the world."

The Brazilian is yet to sign a new contract with the Old Lady and rumours of him leaving will persist till he signs the extension, however with manager adamant not to lose the player, it is certain that the player would be staying put at least this summer.

Juventus have been dominating the Italian league for the last six years, however, Allegri now claimed that there will be a totally open race for the Scudetto when the new season gets going on August 19 as all the top teams like Napoli, Inter Milan, AC Milan have strengthened their squad for the new season.

“This year will be much more difficult because all our rivals have strengthened," the Italian told after Juve's pre-season tour to the US."

"It will be complicated and tricky to win the seventh consecutive league title but it our first goal of the season."

“Last season, Roma got 87 points, a record in their history, and they'll be the main antagonists, but Napoli, Milan and Inter will also fight for the title."
