Thiago Motta Commends Juventus' Consistency After Victory Over AC Milan

Thiago Motta commended Juventus for their steady performance after they handed Sergio Conceicao his first loss as AC Milan's head coach. This victory, a 2-0 triumph at the Allianz Stadium, propelled Juventus into the top four of the Serie A standings. Samuel Mbangula and Timothy Weah scored in the second half, maintaining Juventus' unbeaten streak this season.

Juventus achieved a milestone by keeping four consecutive clean sheets against Milan for the first time in Serie A history. They limited Milan to just three shots on target. Additionally, this was their first home win against Milan in Serie A since November 2019, breaking a streak of four home games without a victory against them.

Motta expressed satisfaction with his team's performance, stating, "Today we played a great game, games like this are won with a lot of daily work from these guys, whom I thank." He praised their commitment and ability to overcome challenges. The victory came 15 days after Juventus lost to Milan in the Supercoppa Italiana semi-final.

Despite remaining unbeaten in the league, Juventus had drawn seven of their previous eight league matches. Motta highlighted technical errors in their last match with Atalanta that boosted their opponent's confidence. He noted that today's opponents recognized Juventus' strong defensive phase and quality play.

Juventus dominated the match with an expected goals (xG) total of 1.08 from 15 attempts and controlled 60% possession. They prevented Milan from scoring for only the second time in Milan's last 30 Serie A away games, both instances being against Juventus.

Motta emphasized their aggressive approach: "We wanted to be aggressive, not give Milan time to play and limit the tranquillity of their goalkeeper who knows how to think logically and find the free man." He praised his players for executing this strategy effectively.

Mbangula's Historic Goal

Motta also lauded Samuel Mbangula, who became the youngest foreign player at 21 years and two days old to score for Juventus against Milan in Serie A. "Beyond the goal he scored today, he's a guy who helps a lot," Motta said. He acknowledged Mbangula's consistent availability and contributions to the team.
