Bengaluru, August 25: Italian giants Juventus have been linked with a surprise move for Chelsea defender Gary Cahill, according to reports.
Massimiliano Allegri is in dire need of support for his back-line following Leonardo Bonucci's shock departure to Serie A rivals AC Milan and it looks now he has identified Cahill as the Italian's potential successor.
The Seria A champions reportedly want to sign the Chelsea veteran as a replacement for the departed Leonardo Bonucci and already made contact with the Blues for a possible transfer, either on loan or permanently.
The 31-year-old was named Chelsea's club captain following John Terry's departure to Aston Villa this summer, however, the English international has faced a difficult start to the season and was sent off in Chelsea's opening weekend defeat to Burnley.
Cahill's form has been a worrying factor for the Blues since the last three seasons and to ease the pressure Conte has also added two new defenders Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen to his squad and also linked to signing Southampton ace Virgil van Dijk before the transfer window closes.
And should the deal occurs, it could make Cahill a fringe player in the squad which is why Conte is reportedly open to letting him go.
The price for the player is believed to be around £16.5million however, a loan deal is also a possibility. But it remains to be seen whether Cahill would be open to the move or not which mostly now depending on Chelsea's transfer activity.
Cahill has made more than two hundred appearances for the London club since signing from Bolton Wanderers in 2011 season and since then has scored 25 goals while also helped the Blues to win two Premier League titles and one Europa League, Champions League, FA Cup and League Cup each.
