Juventus is gearing up for a crucial encounter against Real Madrid in the round of 16, with Igor Tudor emphasising the need for bravery. Juventus secured second place in Group G after a 5-2 loss to Manchester City, leading to this face-off with Group H winners, Madrid. Historically, Real Madrid has often had the upper hand in their knockout stage meetings.

The two teams have clashed 22 times before, with Madrid winning 10 matches compared to Juventus' nine (D2). In knockout rounds, Madrid has triumphed in five out of nine ties. Juventus faced defeats in their last two encounters, including the 2017-18 Champions League quarter-final and the final the year before.

Tudor acknowledges the challenge but remains optimistic. "I expect a difficult match against a renowned team with great qualities that, in the last ten years, have shown their worth in all competitions," he stated during his press conference. He praised Real Madrid's recent performance, noting their quality and teamwork.

Juventus' recent match against City was tough; they allowed 11 shots, a record high since July 2020 against Sassuolo. It was also only the second time in three decades they conceded five goals in a game, following a similar defeat to Napoli in January 2023.

Xabi Alonso mentioned Kylian Mbappe might return for Tuesday's game at Hard Rock Stadium. This adds another layer of complexity for Juventus' defence. However, Tudor is confident in his team's mindset and readiness to tackle this challenge head-on.

"We have progressed through the group; now there is the first step of the second part of the competition ahead of us," Tudor remarked. He stressed belief and effort as key components to advancing further. "We have to believe, run a lot, sacrifice ourselves," he added.

Tudor believes this match is pivotal for Juventus. "The match of the tournament for us? Obviously!" he exclaimed. He urged his players to show courage and determination against Real Madrid. "Everyone wants to beat Real Madrid. We want to try too," he said.
