Juventus coach Thiago Motta expressed dissatisfaction with the 1-1 draw against Lille in the Champions League. Despite controlling much of the second half, Juventus could not convert their dominance into a victory. Dusan Vlahovic's penalty equalised Jonathan David's first-half goal, leaving Juventus with seven points from four matches. Motta believes they deserved more points.Motta praised his players' efforts but was unhappy with the result. "I'm happy with the players, but I cannot be happy with the result, we deserved more than a draw," he stated. He acknowledged Lille's strong organisation and counter-attacking threat, noting that Juventus improved in the second half but struggled to capitalise on their chances. The coach highlighted the performances of Francisco Conceicao and Kenan Yildiz, who posed significant threats down the wings. "The two wingers who started were in good form," Motta said. He explained that attacking through the flanks was crucial due to Lille's compact defence, which made central penetration difficult.Motta noted that Lille's defensive strategy forced Juventus to rely on wide play, using wingers and overlapping full-backs to create opportunities. He appreciated how Kenan and Francisco excelled in one-on-one situations, helping break down Lille's defence. Their positioning in the second half was particularly effective.Despite being pleased with his team's overall performance, Motta acknowledged areas for improvement, especially in finishing chances. "We wanted a different result and created the opportunities to get that," he remarked. However, he remained satisfied with how his team played overall.Juventus now looks ahead to future matches with hopes of improving their standing in the group stage. The team aims to build on their strengths while addressing weaknesses identified during this match against Lille.
