Thiago Motta Addresses Juventus' Struggles With Draws And Upcoming Match Against AC Milan

Thiago Motta acknowledges Juventus' ongoing issue with draws this season, emphasising the need for improvement as they prepare to face AC Milan. The team's performance has fallen short of expectations, with a significant point difference compared to last year.

Juventus manager Thiago Motta admitted that the team's frequent draws are hindering their progress in all competitions this season. Juventus recently drew 1-1 with Atalanta, a team vying for the Scudetto, at the Gewiss Stadium. Pierre Kalulu scored first for Juventus, but Mateo Retegui equalised. This result places Juventus fifth in the league, trailing Napoli by 13 points, with a crucial match against AC Milan approaching.

Motta expressed his dissatisfaction with the outcome, stating, "It's clear that we can't be happy with the result. We go on the pitch to win." He acknowledged that while the team played well and created opportunities, they failed to capitalise on them. Despite remaining unbeaten in his first 20 Serie A games as Juventus manager, Motta lamented another draw.

Motta Discusses Juventus' Draw Challenges

Juventus has become only the second team to draw at least 13 of their first 20 Serie A matches in the three points for a win era, following Inter's record in the 2004-05 season. This season, Juventus has accumulated 34 points from 20 games compared to last season's 49 points over the same period. The 15-point deficit is the largest among teams participating in both campaigns.

Motta praised his players for their efforts despite not securing a victory. "They performed well," he said. "I have to acknowledge the effort and performance." Looking ahead to their upcoming match against seventh-placed Milan on Saturday, Motta emphasised the importance of recovery and preparation.

The availability of Dusan Vlahovic for this weekend's clash remains uncertain due to muscle fatigue. Vlahovic has scored 12 goals in 23 appearances across all competitions this season but missed the Atalanta match. Motta addressed rumours about Paris Saint-Germain striker Randal Kolo Muani joining on loan by stating, "I do not talk about the transfer market."

Motta added that Vlahovic is recovering but is not yet at full fitness. "We cannot risk losing him for longer," he explained. The decision regarding Vlahovic's participation will be made closer to match day.

Kalulu's Contribution and Reflections

Pierre Kalulu became only the third French defender to score for Juventus in Serie A after Lilian Thuram and Patrice Evra. Reflecting on his performance and the team's need for improvement, Kalulu remarked, "A good evening at the beginning, then this goal conceded overshadows everything a bit."

Kalulu stressed that Juventus must consistently strive to earn more points. His comments highlight a shared sentiment within the squad about needing to enhance their performances moving forward.

The upcoming fixture against AC Milan presents an opportunity for Juventus to regain momentum and close the gap with league leaders Napoli. As they prepare for this critical encounter, focus remains on player recovery and tactical adjustments.
