Juventus Held To Another Goalless Draw By Empoli In Serie A Clash

Juventus played to a goalless draw away at Empoli, marking their second successive draw in Serie A. Despite the result, they moved to the top of the table. Both teams had chances but failed to score.

Juventus played out a goalless draw against Empoli in Serie A on Saturday evening. This result marked the second consecutive league game where Thiago Motta's side dropped points, following a 0-0 draw with Roma before the international break. Despite the lacklustre performance, Juventus still topped the table, with most of the division set to play on Sunday.

For much of the match, Juventus struggled to break through Empoli's high press. However, they did have their chances, including a Federico Gatti header from a corner that came close late in the first half. Empoli goalkeeper Devis Vasquez made crucial saves from Gatti and later from Dusan Vlahovic and Teun Koopmeiners in the second half.

Juventus Draws Again in Serie A

Empoli had an opportunity to secure all three points at the end of the match. Still, heroic defending from Gatti prevented Emmanuel Gyasi's tap-in from finding the net. The draw means Juventus now have eight points from four matches, while Empoli sit in seventh place, just two points behind the leaders.

The point earned on Saturday extended Juventus' unbeaten start to the season. They are among six teams yet to lose a league game in Italy's top flight, including their hosts Empoli. This result places Empoli level on points with the final European qualification spot in Serie A.

However, Empoli remains the lowest scorers in Serie A's top half, having managed just three goals in four matches. Despite this scoring challenge, their defensive solidity has kept them competitive.

The match saw several key moments where both teams could have taken control but ultimately ended without any goals. Juventus' inability to penetrate Empoli's defence was evident throughout the game.

This draw highlights Juventus' strong defensive record this season. They have kept clean sheets in each of their first four Serie A matches for only the fifth time in their top-flight history.

The defensive efforts by both teams were notable, with goalkeepers and defenders playing crucial roles in maintaining the scoreline. The match showcased tactical discipline but lacked offensive breakthroughs.

The result leaves both teams reflecting on missed opportunities but also recognising their defensive strengths as they move forward in the season.
