Juventus Under Igor Tudor Struggles To Meet Season Potential Ahead Of Key Match Against Venezia

Igor Tudor admits Juventus has not reached its potential in Serie A this season. With a crucial match against Venezia approaching, the team aims for Champions League qualification.

Juventus are on the brink of securing a Champions League spot, yet Igor Tudor feels they have not reached their full potential in Serie A this season. They face Venezia at Stadio Pier Luigi Penzo, needing a win to guarantee their place in Europe's top competition. Juventus currently sit one point ahead of Roma, with Lazio also in contention for a top-four finish if results favour them.

Since Tudor took over from Thiago Motta in March, Juventus have shown improvement. Motta's tenure ended after consecutive defeats. Under Tudor, Juventus have struggled away, failing to win any of their four away league matches (D3 L1). Historically, Juventus have dominated Venezia, winning 16 out of their last 20 Serie A encounters (D3 L1).

Despite these challenges, the Opta supercomputer gives Juventus a 70.8% chance of finishing in the top four. In contrast, Roma and Lazio have 24.5% and 4.8% chances respectively. Tudor remains optimistic about his team's prospects and believes they are poised to claim what is theirs.

While Juventus aim for European qualification, Venezia are fighting to avoid relegation. They sit 19th in the table, two points behind Empoli and Lecce. Venezia have shown resilience recently, winning two of their last three home games (L1), including a victory against Fiorentina.

Tudor emphasised the importance of both mental and physical preparation for this crucial match. "We'll need both head and heart," he stated. He expressed satisfaction with his work so far and is eager to complete the season on a high note.

Team Updates and Future Plans

Midfielder Teun Koopmeiners has returned to training after an Achilles injury but remains uncertain for the match. Renato Veiga and Weston McKennie also trained despite recent issues. Tudor aims to help his players improve as they prepare for next month's Club World Cup.

Reflecting on his time as a player at Juventus, Tudor is committed to enhancing his team's performance at Venezia. "I want to do my best to help my players," he said, highlighting areas for improvement and potential growth within the squad.

Juventus' upcoming fixture holds significant implications for both clubs involved. While Juventus seek Champions League qualification, Venezia fight for survival in Serie A. The outcome will shape each team's future as they conclude their respective campaigns.
