Bengaluru, August 24: Italian giants Inter Milan and Juventus are reportedly interested to bring Arsenal centre back Shkodran Mustafi to the Serie A, according to reports.
Recent reports suggested, Arsenal being interested in selling Mustafi to Inter Milan because he failed to build a solid partnership with his colleagues. But, now a new report from Daily Mirror has claimed that Serie A champion Juventus are also inquiring about the possibility of the German defender to join them.
According to the report, the defending Serie A champions have allegedly selected the German defender as a potential alternative to Leonardo Bonucci, who left to AC Milan this summer.
However, the report also suggests that the release of Mustafi only depends on the Gunners as they want to fill up the potential void with a better replacement first.
The 25-year-old touched base at the Emirates Stadium just last summer and was a consistent first-team player all through the season. And despite the fact that, his form has been mixed all the time for the Arsenal, it'd be very unusual for Arsene Wenger to let him leave at this point of the transfer window.
Arsenal have already sold defender Gabriel Paulista to Valencia last week and at present only have four senior centre backs at the club.
With both Laurent Koscielny and Per Mertesacker frequently injured through out every campaign, only amateur Rob Holding and Mustafi remain the only centre back options at the club.
And with such a long season at hand, it will be foolish letting the defender go at this moment as there are very few top class centre backs available in the market.
Mustafi who won the 2014 World Cup with Germany, played 37 games in all competitions during his first season at the Emirates and helped his team win the FA Cup last year. He made his first Premier League appearance of the season in Saturday's 1-0 defeat away at Stoke City.
