Locatelli Contract Extension Reinforces Juventus Trophy Ambitions And Leadership On The Pitch

Manuel Locatelli has committed long term to Juventus, with chief executive Damien Comolli saying the contract renewal underlines the club’s intent to compete strongly for trophies in every competition over the coming seasons.

The midfielder signed fresh terms on 17 April 2026, extending the stay with Juventus until 2030. Locatelli originally arrived from Sassuolo in 2021 on a two-year loan, then agreed a five-year deal in November 2023 reportedly valued at 37.5m.

Locatelli extension boosts Juventus trophy aims

Since moving to Turin, Locatelli has played 224 games across all tournaments, scoring nine goals and supplying 17 assists. Juventus view the Italy international as central to the tactical structure, with the new agreement designed to secure that influence well into the next decade.

Defensive statistics underline that importance. From Locatelli’s Juventus debut onwards, no Serie A player has completed more tackles than the midfielder’s 288. Passing figures also stand out, with 10,660 successful passes, behind only Alessandro Bastoni on 11,416 and Amir Rrahmani on 11,237 during the same period.

These numbers can be summarised as follows:

Player Statistic Total
Manuel Locatelli Appearances (all competitions) 224
Manuel Locatelli Goals 9
Manuel Locatelli Assists 17
Manuel Locatelli Tackles won (Serie A) 288
Manuel Locatelli Successful passes (Serie A) 10,660
Alessandro Bastoni Successful passes (Serie A) 11,416
Amir Rrahmani Successful passes (Serie A) 11,237

Comolli linked the new deal to Locatelli’s long-standing bond with the club. "We all remember when Manuel, upon his arrival in 2021, spoke with great emotion about having always been a Juventus fan, emphasised Comolli."

Comolli described how Locatelli has grown into a reference point within the dressing room and on the pitch. "His contract renewal, therefore, represents the natural continuation of the growth of his leadership on the pitch, of his indomitable Juventus spirit, in complete harmony with the values and ambitions of our club."

The executive also linked the agreement to Juventus’ medium-term planning. "It is a further step towards giving solidity and continuity to our sporting project, with an eye to the future and the goal of making the team increasingly competitive."

Locatelli’s medal collection at Juventus currently features one trophy, the Coppa Italia from the 2023-24 campaign. The club hierarchy, however, believes that securing a core player through 2030 strengthens the platform for future title challenges domestically and in international competitions.

On the pitch this season, Locatelli has already played 41 matches in all competitions during 2025-26 since the Club World Cup. Despite that workload, Juventus will finish the campaign without any silverware, but the team remains on course to reach the Serie A top four.

Luciano Spalletti’s Juventus sit fourth in the league table, holding a two-point advantage over Como, who are fifth. That position comes before a key home fixture against Bologna at Allianz Stadium on Sunday, which could prove important in the race for Champions League qualification.

Locatelli’s contract renewal therefore aligns individual stability with Juventus’ wider sporting plan, combining strong defensive and passing numbers, leadership responsibilities and a long-term commitment as the club targets consistent competition for major honours.
