Juventus Faces Atalanta Without Seven Key Players Amid Serie A Challenge

Juventus will be without seven players, including Bremer and Milik, for their Serie A match against Atalanta. Coach Thiago Motta stresses the need for a strong defence as they aim to improve their league position.

Juventus faces a challenging Serie A match against Atalanta on Sunday, missing seven key players, including Bremer, Arkadiusz Milik, and Douglas Luiz. Thiago Motta's team is currently fourth in the league with 52 points, trailing third-placed Atalanta by three points. Atalanta has achieved four consecutive clean sheets in Serie A for the first time since 2000, although two of those matches ended in goalless draws.

Motta highlighted the need for a strong defensive performance against Atalanta, who have scored 45 open-play goals this season, the highest in Serie A. "Tomorrow we will have to be a very solid defence. Up to today, we have done very well because the forwards have done very well," Motta stated. He also stressed the importance of providing good service to forwards Dusan Vlahovic and Randal Kolo Muani.

Juventus Without Seven Players for Atalanta Match

The absence of Jonas Rouhi, Juan Cabal, Bremer, Milik, Douglas Luiz, Francisco Conceicao, and Nicolo Savona will impact Juventus' strategy. Motta confirmed their unavailability but assured that other players are ready to start or join during the match. Juventus has not defeated Atalanta at home since March 2018, adding pressure to close the gap with their rivals.

Sunday's game holds special significance for midfielder Teun Koopmeiners as he faces his former club. Koopmeiners scored in Juventus' recent 2-0 victory over Verona and is expected to maintain his form under scrutiny. "There will always be criticism and it is part of this job," Motta remarked. "In the last match, he came on very well and also scored a goal."

The encounter also reunites Motta with his former coach Gian Piero Gasperini from their time at Genoa and Inter. Motta praised Gasperini's coaching abilities: "He is a great coach. Gasperini does not have to prove anything anymore because he has shown so much." This adds an intriguing subplot to an already significant fixture.

Juventus aims to break their winless streak against Atalanta at home while managing several player absences. The team's ability to adapt and perform under these circumstances will be crucial in maintaining their position in the league standings.
